Just Plain Folks Awards 2006

I am honored and ecstatic to have been nominated in two categories (3 nominations) by the Just Plain Folks Songwriting and Musician Networking Organization. The categories are: CARIBBEAN SONG NOMINEE for "MAYA" and "FEELING" as well as CARIBBEAN ALBUM NOMINEE for the album, "LOVE SONGS FOR YOU". This is the second time that I've been nominated for the work that I so love. The first time this honor was bestowed upon me was in 1993, for Best New Artist at the 3rd Annual Caribbean Music Awards in New York for the song "MISTE DAMOU ". I was in very good company with fellow nominee Buju Banton and the presenter for my category who was none other than one of the artists who has inspired me and influenced my style, Mr. Jon Lucien! Although I did not take home the prize, I still felt like a winner that night. I had a chance to meet many of my peers which was a wonderful experience. I am happy to announce that there are several other Haitian artists who are also nominated. They are: Angus Martin, Guy Robert Jean, Harry Ayizan Sanon, Alan Cavé, and Groov’ La. Congratulations also to Judith Montperous for her 2 nominations and win at the Marlin Awards in July 2006 held in The Bahamas for "L’étènel Tou Puisan" in the Foreign Language Category and "The Blood Medley" in the Traditional Vocal Performance of the Year/Female category. I would love to find out about more 2006 Haitian artists nominees. If anyone has any info to that effect, please share. It will be a pleasure to include them in my newsletter.

The Just Plain Folks Music Organization has officially announced the nominees for its 2006 Just Plain Folks Music Awards. After receiving over 25,500 albums and 350,000 songs from 105 countries, Nominations for Best Song in 67 Genres and Best Album in 81 categories have been posted. In addition, we have posted this year's Lyric and Video Nominees. All nominations are posted on the Just Plain Folks website found at http://www.JPFolks.com. The winners will be announced at the Just Plain Folks Music Awards Show on November 4th, 2006 in Santa Ana, CA at the Galaxy Theater.
